Infographic of the number of executions in Iran in 2013

The Islamic Republic of Iran continues to execute people at an alarmingly high rate including those convicted for drug trafficking, a crime that does not meet the limited exception under international law for application of the death penalty only for “the most serious crimes”.

The graphic below shows the number of people executed as confirmed officially by the government, semi-officially by state media, and unacknowledged but reported by other sources.
