IHRDC Exclusive Video of Public Hanging of Three Men in Azadi Square in Kermanshah, Iran this Morning, Thursday, January 5 2012

(5 January 2012) The Iran Human Rights Documentation Center has obtained exclusive video of a public execution of three persons that took place in Azadi Square in Kermanshah, Iran this morning, Thursday, 5 January, 2012. The names and ages of the three men hanged are reportedly Sassan Basami, 36 years of age; Ali Reza Ahmadi, 48 years of age; and Sadegh Eskandari, 33 years of age. According to IHRDC’s running list of executions in the Islamic Republic of Iran (see http://www.iranhrdc.org/english/publications/3420-executions-in-iran.html), the IRI government carried out 659 executions of persons in 2011.  Thus far, the high frequency of executions has continued unabated in 2012, with a reported 39 people executed in the space of three days.  More details to follow…
